Start Your Own Small Business in the Tail End of Economic Struggle

In the economic situation where the unemployment rate has reached the 16 year high of over 10%, it is difficult to think about the personal job situation at hand without feeling the blood pumping right into the brain. The breathing changes and the shallow rapid upper lungs breath begins to create a shortcut to feeling anxiety and restlessness. 

Before we begin discussing further, stop, and take a deep breath into your diaphragm. Exhale and take in another deep breath. Exhale again Completely and fully. Yes, that's better, feel the difference? Drop your shoulders, and relax your chin. You feel much more relaxed now, don't you? Now you are ready to discuss anything from a position of opportunities.

So you have been laid off. Now is a new life. There are very few jobs out there, industries suffer, so you decide to go solo and start your own business. You wish you had taken that class back in in time, you wish you knew what to do from here. So here is a solution.

Find Your Fascination

Now that you decided to start your business, might as well do what you want. Remember what you always wanted to do? Back as a child or a youth? I remember that I could not chose between the four things I wanted to do, so I decided I wanted to be all four of them. In the morning I would be a teacher, to educate those wanting to learn, in the afternoon I would be a doctor, to heal the needy, in the evening I would be a gift wrapper to make people smile with a crafty colorful gift, and at night I would put all that in the poetic form as a writer. Thirty five years later I find myself running a business of holistic healing through Reiki and Hypnotherapy and alternative modalities training, writing articles, books, and developing a hobby knitting and sewing. 

Spend a good amount of thinking to get this information for yourself. Perhaps do some meditation and reading.  Joseph Campbell speaks on following your bliss, your fascination in his book The Hero of a Thousand Faces. Entering a journey of your life now, might as well make it a journey of your fascination. With this at hand, you won't ever be bored or run out or steam creating your new business.

Create a Business Plan

Business plan is nothing else as a simply put creative vision of your business taking the direction of success and profitability. Create your vision. do a simple exercise on writing down the following:

1. What is your product?

2. How do you want to feel selling it?

3. What skills that you have can you use in this business to create success and profitability?

4. What do you contribute to the world by selling this product?

To create a good solid business plan you need to research some books on business plans, there is a software Create a Business Plan. This business plan is a number one thing that will help you explain your business to investors and get financing for your business, if you were to look for the "outside" money. To implement your vision into a compelling plan that your investor will be interested, include at least 3 years of projections of your sales, benefits, expenses, distributions of profits, and of course the growth on revenues.

How are the investors rewarded for investing in you?

When will your business begin to generate profits and payouts?

How long can you allow for the start-up time projections to get your business off the ground?

Incorporate

Ten years ago, I founded the New York Awareness Center. Incorporated in the first few weeks, we stayed unprofitable for the next two years. We received a lump sum of $50,000 to buy the equipment and to rent an office, for advertising expenses, and website set-up. Investing each year after the start is simpler and requires much less effort and much less time. 

Keep Focus

Keeping the focus is a great reinforcement for the business. However, it is a good idea to rest in between the work hours. Take a vacation for a few ours and go outside the city, or drive deeper into the country to take a deep breathe of fresh air. Life your life, exercise, eat well. After a few moments of relaxation you will have a better vision of your business and create more profitable ideas. 

Keep your focus on the direction of your business and make sure when you generate ideas that they are in line with your vision for the business.

We help those who need clarity on the purpose of their life, re-direction after a traumatic situation, emotional crisis, helping relieve the drama and re-create a sense of well-being, and direction and purpose in life. This brought us more success, and the business boomed as we are finding that the economic crisis reflects on our services in a positive way.

It was suggested that we branch out to teach in other school and colleges, however we kept focus and integrity, uncompromising quality of the work with a client.
